Maverick Magazine awarded “I’m Still Here” with 5 out of 5 stars!

This is her best album.

It has been eight years since Mindy McCready last released an album, a self-titled CD on Capitol Records that just faded away. This album on the other hand is by far her best release to date, in my opinion even better than her top selling 1996 debut TEN THOUSAND ANGELS which sold two million copies and boasted four country charting singles.

Mindy always had a talent as a singer but she was a tough artist who lived for the moment, sadly her highs were matched too often with some very extreme lows. But this album hopefully will be the turning point in her life and could propel her back to the top.

With three co-writes to her name amongst the thirteen tracks there is not one bad song here, she also does a superb version of the Garth Brooks hit The Dance, managing to stamp her mark all over it. There are also updated versions of Mindy’s two biggest singles Guys Do It All The Time and Ten Thousand Angels.

I have always had a soft spot for Mindy’s voice and her slight vocal inflections, but on this CD her voice is a lot stronger and packed full of emotion. The uplifting I Hate That I Love You is a real feel-good tune, whereas Wrong Again is about reflecting on ones demon’s. Fades is a gorgeous ballad and the title track I’m Still Here is a powerful reminder that you cannot write Mindy McCready off.

Excellent album, let’s hope that she is now here to stay. DK
